Opinions

Hipster essay

i don't understand why this has become such a debate. if someone is vacuous they aren't hip. this may contradict current usage and it may be the vacuousness that people object to in those who use the label to refer to themselves, but more often than not folks just don't approve of a style of dress and are criticizing that, which seems, um, vacuous. that guy who was in operation ivy wrote a pretty funny essay about this, actually. you'll have to order the back issue of TMCM that it was in to read it though- that content isn't posted on www.tmcm.com

Mooch value

uh, it's like 500 a quarter in euros. what is that U.S.? but i prefer to bust my ass at work. it's slightly less demoralizing.

Opinion on the SLT

i bet it would be more informed if i lived there.

Opinion on the smoking ban

would have voted for it as i did here, but don't think the lack of a referendum seems like a very constitutional thing for the city council to do.

Opinion on West Lawrence

well my dad lives further west than where i grew up (15th and kasold) now so i guess i have to hold my tongue. i just wish they would revitalize downtown kansas city so the "professionals" could live in condos like normal urban drones instead of being imported to the nearby college town.
