Bucky's Drive In

Does saying a place is better then McDonalds represent a compliment? Thats the best I can say about this fast food place

Pizzeria Uno Chicago Bar & Grill

I'm not a fan of deep dish pizza usually but this place is the best in that regards. Other food, excluding pizza, is average, but the pizza is very good.

Chipotle (Downtown)

Food is very good for a chain but very good for a chain is still average to above average for actual quality. As much as I want to hate a McDonalds chain, their chips and guac are good, won't say great, but very good.

Yello Sub

Since Yellow Sub chained off into Planet Sub in KC and elsewhere everything has dropped. Food used to be a 10, vibe, service the same. I still would rather get a sandwich here then any other place in Lawrence or KC, but of people that knew the Yellow Sub before they started the franchise craze and the Yellow Sub now, service is alot worse, and as service goes vibe goes also. Place a call in order and leave you deal with the food only and its good (not as good as 5 years ago though) but try and order at the resteraunt for dine in or go, and it seems Yellow Sub is trying to test its regulars patience.

Vermont Street BBQ

Great for the live shows they have. For the people that are up in arms that this is next to Gates or Bryants in barbeque. I am sorry but Vermont Street BBQ is ketchup on meat which at best is food to eat. So called BBQ snobs that say this on par with KC BBQ are nuts. No place in lawrence approaches that, but are there places that rate up there, I put Vermont street as the second place to eat BBQ in lawrence, their sauce is sad, but meat is usually good, sometimes great, sometimes average, but as with all BBQ places the meat can vary due to when it came out the grill, or whether they got a cow that was killed with tender meat. To end average for KC BBQ, poor sauce, but great shows, good service, to bad Bigg's BBQ can't see how to turn their bad BBQ to a decent product.

The Burrito King

It is very hard for me to rate this place, being a Southern California transplant my standards are very high for mexican food and KC is subpar in that department. They get tamales and carnitas right, half of the time their burritos are substandard but everyone I know think it's good all of time. Most people have never drank Horchata, try it, its great, only reason why I don't have this place below average. As with most places I put this on a place as try most of the menu items and when you find one or two items they do well go back and order when you want them. For people that don't like their tamales, they are the way homemade tamales are supposed to be, but just like your mom's cooking sometimes better then usual sometimes worse.

Quick's Bar-B-Q & Catering Company

For me to give a BBQ place a 7 for food is high. Service and vibe is at best sub par but most good BBQ places rate this way. For Lawrence this is easily the best BBQ place to eat, been around since the 60's (not this place but its KC location). A place doesn't last that long if it doesnt make quality food. Overall in quality of BBQ I put it behind Bryants, Smokestack, Oklahoma Joe's, but ahead of the much heralded Gate's. Not top three quality, but definitely near the top of KC BBQ and therefore best of Lawrence BBQ.

Bigg's Barbeque

Good service. That is all I can say. For BBQ I'm sorry that I believe that a good place to eat is about the food not a good place to watch sports. For being so close to KC it is sad that their BBQ is this quality. I've eaten there three times, because I understand BBQ can vary in quality terms based on many things, but Bigg's would be a good bar and grill, but their bbq is not good. Which is suprising considering they have ties to JB Stouts and that is one of my favorite places in Lawrence.

23rd Street Brewery

For bar and grills this is below average at best, below par in every department, food, service, beer.

Jefferson's Restaurant

Good food, only thing that makes it better than good is the service and beauty serving you. Some say best burger in town, not true, I'd say 3rd best in town but still good food.
