Film festival will try to bridge gap between artists, audience

CorporateFM is excellent. Glad to see it is showing in Lawrence. Much of the heart of the story unfolds here.

Duck, duck, fry.

We roasted a duck and missed the chance to follow up with fries. Thanks for the great idea!

Final Gaslight Show Ever with Split Lip Rayfield -- 11/01/08 at Gaslight Gardens

Man, I saw the F Holes for the first time the other night at the Jazzhaus and they f*cking wailed. I can't wait to see them again.

Happy Birthday, Fugazi.

I'd forgotten about the "This is not a Fugazi shirt" shirts. I remember knowing that they weren't from the band. I guess that's neither here nor there at this point though.

Fugazi was and still is a great band. We might not see them play again, but multiple shows during my formative years had a lot to do with the way I see things nowadays.

Dare to share

I hadn't thought of the RIAA folks as plain old bullies prior to reading this article, but it got a few wheels turning in my head:

Firstly, I think this article gives the reader the impression that maybe the KU people are being dicks by not forwarding the letters, but upon second thought, the article goes on to say that the RIAA only has an IP address, and not personal information. If KU refuses to forward the settlement letters, then how to the RIAA folks know who to threaten? If KU were to forward the letters, then the students would be outting themselves to RIAA unwittingly... Way to go, KU!

Secondly, That's all I had to say. You have to say "Secondly" if you say "firstly" though.

At the crossroads

This sounds like a sarcastic remark, and it's not intended that way whatsoever, but what could possibly go in that location that would be more apt than the hole-in-the-wall bar that's already there? Sure, build a small strip mall or convenience store, but you're going to be catering to the same people whose bar you just took away.

Marquee mama

Way to round out and conclude the article.

Can't Stand Losing Him

I didn't know Kirk personally, but for a few brief encounters in passing... I did know him through his music. Now more than ever he is a reason to become a better musician and a better person. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing so much of yourself with us, Kirk. We'll do good by you.

Ad Nauseam

Excuse me. I misspoke. I might have to kill shomeone or shomething.

Thanks.

Ad Nauseam

Personally, I was totally content ignoring the effing commercials, as a first step in making them go away. Now that Lawrence.com, our "cultural" weekly reader has decided that somehow they're culturally or artistically valid enough to get a front-page article, I might have to kill someone or something.

I know it's a crappy time of year as most bands hibernate until spring, but I've gotta say this was a pretty lackluster attempt at finding something to write about. What's next, that D-bag from pay-less furniture? I suppose at this point I shouldn't give anyone any ideas.

Please give me an ounce of solace and let me know that the submission of this article and it's appearance on the front of Lawrence.com was the result of a lost bet.
