Lawrence connection
Moved here to start graduate school (see also: Occupation). Of course, I fell in love with it, too. This place wasn't home from my first moment here (although it would be very romantic of me to say something like that) but Lawrence has definitely grown on me, quite unlike a cancerous disease.

Interests
Hobbies
Way too many interests to count, actually. I'll have to think what actually qualifies as hobbies: if I have to count what I spend time on a regular basis pursuing, the list is woefully short.

Hipster essay
Um... what's a hipster? Guess I'm not it.
Mooch value
about 20 bucks. I have a low tolerance.
Oh, wait...you meant MY ability to shamelessly beg, borrow or otherwise acquire goods/services/meals from other people without the expenditure of my capital/savings/pantry holdings? Well then...
... I'll get back to you when I quit adding.
Opinion on the smoking ban
Strange thing to enforce in bars. Quite welcome in restaurants.
Since the ban was voted on and approved, theoretically the majority of Lawrencians wanted it passed (although in the political arena this seems not to apply anymore, if ever it did). I can't help but think that somehow bars and restaurants should be considered different entities, and subject to different rules. I would be disturbed by someone smoking in a restaurant when I am trying to eat (since I really enjoy the taste of my food, and am not particularly partial to the flavor of cigarettes) but when I go to a bar, I half expect to be surrounded in fumes. That makes taking my drink out onto the porch a much more pleasant experience. Now, of course, all the smokers congregate on the porch/balcony/whatever, so that when I get too hot in a bar, I just go home.
Opinion on West Lawrence
Nice for folks who want to live that way. Not so nice for me; I'd rather walk downtown.
