Wayne & Larry's Sports Bar & Grill

The description needs updating more than perhaps anything else on this needs to be updated website (in terms of bars and restaurants, the calender is outstanding).
Wayne and Larry's as much as I don't want to admit it, is a great bar, very good TV set up (more than a dozen), two pool table, darts, a shuffle board table (only one in Lawrence other than Rick's) couple of golden tee/silverstrick bowling arcade games and VERY nice and VERY NEW looking decor. Actually no other bar in Lawrence looks as new and nice as Wayne and Larry's.
I had the Onion Petals and they were outstanding, bartenders/waitresses good looking ladies. only complaint is that you can't bounce back and forth between the bowling alley. (It still blows my mind tht I think highly of a place that is attatched to a bowling alley)

Molly McGee's

I love the food and the atmosphere is good (although better at the other place). Must complain about TVs. While there are tons to watch most are tiny and sound for games is aweful and very mistimed (plus none seem to great of color). At least the TVs are better than the service. Normally I like to give the benifit of the doubt, but one guy I've had twice I'm amazed he can tie his shoes he is so bad. The girl I had today asked a dozen (not exaggerating) if we wanted to split our bill in order to shoe us along (while we were ordering drinks throughout the game). I had a couple of friends who used to work there before they graduated and it was much better service, but I've been 0 for my last 5 here and it hasn't even been close. Will say good things about the food though. Although I'm a bit ticked they doubled the price on thier 'Taco night' special.

Ole Tapas Bar

Fairly authentic. Had valintines day dinner there.
Great romatntic feel to it. The owner is a great guy, as nice as anyone in Lawrence, makes sure everything is more than ok.
The tapas were fairly authentic (better than I expected in Lawrence) and the papas bravas were outstanding, but the tortilla espanola were soggy and could use some improvement.
Great place though.

Free State Brewing Company

The Lawrence spot. It is so uber Lawrence. And the beers are amazing, some of the best in the world, not exaggerating, its true people who rate thousands of beers agree.
The food is just as good as the beer.

23rd Street Brewery

Ther emight not be a place more hit or miss in Lawrence. I've had some great experiences at lunch, I've also had some messed up orders and difficult waitresses. I suppose this is to be expected when KU coeds are the majority of employees.
The beers are what bring you in. They are decent beers (sure not Free State, but good). Food is above average for a sports brewpub but certainly not great by any stretch of the imagination.

Thai House

This is the best Thai food in town.
The wings are by and far the best in town, and I love buffalo wings (these aren't buffalo, but still).
The service is good, but not outstanding ... but not many places in Lawrence are.
The prices aren't cheap, but its great food! My favorite restaurant in Lawrence.

Steve Ewing / Zach Hexum / Lost 80 / Theory and Logic -- 09/09/05 at Granada

The show was great!
Lost 80 sounds more and more like a 311/Mighty Mighty Bosstones mix with some balls the more I hear them play.

The Steve Ewing band was great, they absolutely rocked the place (although it was kind of empty that late in the night). Played all of Ewings old Urge songs to great response.

Logic really suprised me. I didn't know what to expect from them, and they were outstnading. Had a great great sound. Thier lead signer was really good with some serious energy, and thier bassist reminded me a lot of System of a Down.

Zack Hexum was good, but almost didn't fit in the show as he was so mellow compared to the rest of the lineup. He was good, and I'd mianinge even better with a bad behind him. He had a couple of very good songs.

Showed up late and didn't see Theory.

I can't say much about Steve Ewing, but he has had some very songs with Urge, I don't know his solo stuff though.

Zack Hexum has been on the 'Late Late Show' with Craig Kilbourne. His songs (free off his website) remind me a little of Jack Johnson but with less beach tunes and a little more soul in his voice. I like 'Princess of Darkness' the best. His brother is in 311, which isn't too far of a stretch to get to Lost-80.

Lost-80 is a great band. If you like ska, you should love lost-80. Lost 80 has some great songs and are tons of fun live. I've seen them a handful of times now, and can't wait to see them another couple times this upcoming weekend.

Should be an awesome show!!!
