This place dishes out the worst mongolian bbq I have ever had. I was expecting to be able to mix my own sauce, which is the norm at mongolian bbq restaurants, but was greeted with a system where you pick out a sauce card which the "chefs" make for you. The raw ingredients seemed to be up to par, but the few sauces that I tried were lacking in flavor and depth. For those not interested in creating a custom stirfry there is a small buffet, but the food seemed old and did not taste very good at all. There were enjoyable appetizers and soups but that is not enough to make me go back.
After trying 3 times I am through with Zen Zero. Strike one: a less than average curry with much sauce and rice but very little vegetables and meat. Strike two: a stirfry with a bland sauce and overcooked chicken. Strike three: drunken noodles that are all stuck together in one big ball, with a bland overall flavor. YOU'RE OUT!
This is my favorite restaurant in Lawrence. I have introduced dozens of people to this place and none have gone away unhappy. My favorite entrees mainly come from the vegetarian side of the menu and the spring and egg rolls are to die for.
YUM - there's nothing better than canned green beans and potatoes. Also can someone please turn down the looping Greek music. They get my vote for the worst restaurant in Lawrence after trying them several times.
