I say give the ball to frosh #2 (in the #5 jersey). At least give him a half to see what he can do. At this point, what do we really have to lose? (Sure, okay. Perhaps a shot at some newly formed bowl game no one cares about) Neither one seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of the other. Reesing seems to have the edge right now because he looked so comfortable once he settled in against CU. Not to mention the fact that, to me, he looked like he was a step faster than Meier. He looked very quick on the draw play he scored on and the 60+ yard run he could/should have taken in.
Both are threats to run. Both are average when it comes to passing/accuracy/and INTS-TD. But this is truly difficult to compare in one half versus Colorado at home. I like Meier, but he seems to be injury prone right now - he should learn to slide...better. lol Maybe he needs more time to heal up and be 100%. How will #5 handle himself on the road in the Big 12 in the starting role? Why not find out? We may be pleasantly surprised. Or, we could see the bandwagon get a little lighter. One thing is for sure, either way, our offense has more life to it with one of those two in there.
Well, it is all a mystery. I would like to know why our receivers continue to bobble and drop passes that hit them square in the hands. How many "sure" touchdowns have the wide outs -or TE(s)- dropped this season? I know, you can't place blame on just one position. But, with the defense as porus as it has been, in allowing numerous 400+ yard offensive "explosions" by opponents, the simple little things like catching the ball when you have it in your hands become huge. (I don't recall, this week, if it was Herford or Henry that dropped 6 points in the 4th quarter that could have iced the game)
Obviously, a healthy K Meier AND healthy Cornish are the keys to this team winning games. We must have both to win. The D cannot do it...we must score nearly every possession. I have been trying not to face it, however, it is unavoidable. Our Crimson and Blue team is just not very good (could be understated) and their chances of making 6 W's ...good as a snowball in the firery depths if they continue to choke late.
Bright side: Perhaps with the football team seemingly going downhill, the basketball team will now March through the madness and into the title game and the universe will be back to normal.
Sadly, you are right on the money...which there appears to be plenty of out at the stadium complex. It would be absurd to think this team could win 45 games this season. At this point, if they win 40 it would be a feat worthy of a parade through downtown K.C. Will it force any changes? As you say, probably not. Glass and Co. got what they wanted. They will get a piece of the pie when Arrowhead finally hosts a Super Bowl. The city will see revenue from it also. What does the average Jackson County voter get from it if they don't own a business or have a job at the stadium?
I remember George Brett - my all time favorite Royal - tried to be a part of the organization and help it improve (I believe, mostly out of embarassment for what the team had become). What ever happened to force him to break ties? or is he still involved and I didn't know?
It is a great story. Looked like he was just having fun playing the game. It's amazing what can happen when you do that. :)
Pretty sad that the effort was not there on Saturday. Seemed we got beat to the boards and nearly every loose ball. Rush...probably could have watched this one on TV and been just as effective. Our bigs got out muscled to the glass and it seemed UT could have "tossed a BB through a Life Saver." I've said before that these guys were not done with their "freshmen moments." We had a freshmen game Saturday.
I'm sure we'll be fine though. Like Self said, it's just one game...and one hell of a learning experience. Julian still shines bright again and Robinson picked up another 8 assists (17 the last 2 games) w/ Chalmers quiet 10 pts. Team effort to lose like that though. Hey, another 10 game streak would be REAL nice. lol
Mr. Anderson, sounds like you may be Monk-ish. I have yet to watch the latest version of "Battlestar" (mainly, I'm too busy) but I recall watching the original series with my parents as a kid. I guess I've been a bit skeptical about how good it would be, knowing all too well that the graphics would be better. Perhaps I should give it a chance. Think I'll wait for the dvd and waste a Saturday that way.
Little rant about networks not keeping series moving through the season: I agree Doug. My biggest gripe relates to "LOST" (I'm hooked) and being on the cusp of learning something new and exciting ...only to get another little crumb and find out the next new episode is in 3 weeks! Sorry, but F that! If they can't keep the season together, don't start it! It's still a great show, but give us something more! My only wish for "24" is that it was 2 hours every week.
Jekyl & Hyde baby Hawks by 2 1/2? I hope we can hold on for a close win. We have had troubles this year when the games are that close. I would rather see the team that took the floor against Kentucky shows it's face tonight. You know, that team that was confident and fearless. As for MU losing - KSU lost in ugly fashion before downing us. The tiggers may have been looking forward to tonight in that loss. Big game for both teams. RockChalkJayhawkGoKU.
Giddens, Wilkes and Case... one of Roy's last great contribution to the University of Kansas basketball program? Perhaps the potential was there, but the will, and talent, was not.
I would say don't get too confortable on the Mizzou bandwagon yet. The 2 Oklahoma schools are both struggling mightily right now. I expect the teeth of the Big 12 schedule to bite the tiggers on the a**. They might split with KU, and most likely split with ISU, NU, CU, and even KSU (somehow that happens frequently). Texas, Tx Tech, and possibly A&M should take them down. Once again, the tiggers will fall into mediocrity at 8-8 ,or worse, and fall in the middle of the pack...again. A loss to the Jayhawks would send them into a tail-spin. I would hate to see Quin go. He's been good to us.
Yes, they will be fine. Anyone with a basketball IQ of 3 or more should know they are going to struggle for a while. One can certainly see glimpses of how good they can be. For now, I can expect close to 20+ turnovers against good teams. Arizona was agonizing, but promising b/c we played with a top 10 team and should have IMO beat them. 10-3 or 9-4 (Nevada, Pepperdine, and Kentucky-duh- will be tough) record heading into B12 play would be great for this young team. You should limit your reading time on the message boards to when you need a good laugh. Perhaps that guy was just frustrated with the team and was spouting off. I am curious to see how the womens team fares in the B12 this year. Both teams have a ways to go.
I used to enjoy some of the announcers that did play-by-play on Saturdays. Of course, Keith Jackson's voice always seemed to symbolize the arrival of the season and big-time match-ups. He was the voice of college football and gave life to every game. Clearly, some of these latest pretenders are just plain ignorant and lack the ability to read what is factually reported. (BTW if memory serves, Young and Reid were jawing most of the game last season...so what!) I guess you have to be pleased that they didn't call our team "Kansas State" or the "Wildcats" for half the game - a common mistake by the boobs every time ANY KU team is on the National boob tube.
This game was over when it hit 14-0. I'm not sure what I take away from it, other than the a**-pounding. I do believe the team can rebound, but it won't be a walk on the Hill. ISU will be tough...and our D has something to prove. Home field advantage-KU. I'll go out on a limb and say we win -- 27-17.
Mangino's gamble on Reesing a no-brainer
