Overfilling the Gene Pool

great... another chump mascot named Phil. Phil the Pill at least looks like it's having a good time in that video. and obviously isn't quite as bad as Phil the syPHILlis Bug.

Leslie- yes. I've been expressing solidarity nearly half my life and I can tell you that we stand for warmth and unchapped skin in the winter months, and big savings on razors year round. Not to mention El Sexay.

Jilla- ha... you may well be right. I can affirm this: your vocab is top shelf.

Joel! I ain't got nothin to prove, yo. Except that choice slang NEVER goes out of style.

Chris- yep, it's from that very choice soundtrack. It's the first time I've enjoyed listening to Vedder's new stuff in, what, 10 years?

You got me ... I'm not, in fact, a gansta. Let's just say Always Sunny is quite enjoyable and mildly habit forming.

Facebook

ha ... were it just the kids. waiting in line at sunflower cable yesterday, 3 of the 4 public-use computers in there were being used by 30- or 40-somethings on myspace. btwn 2ish and 2:30ish. on a weekday.

anyway, i gotta work on my blog tone. either that or blog about things that give me joy. what i think of hardcore users of myspace and facebook isn't born out of resentment at all... it just baffles me. i think a lot of people just don't think about what they're doing... same way they might not think twice about using their work computer to apply for another job, etc

"iatrogenesis" means the caregiver is the cause of the malady, or the cure is the cause. could be applied to something like the "war on terror" or more literally a frontal lobotomy (pictured above).

mostly i just like the word. doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as, say, "moist" but is arguably more versatile. well, on second thought...

So...

matt-i think the congestion was pretty much inevitable /today/ ... should lighten up considerably as soon as tonight. it only took 10 min or so for me to buy it at 7 a.m. still that felt like quite a wait... while waiting, i realized that's probably why they were accepting pre-orders a week+ early.

God Of War II: Now With Less Words!

the game is pretty cool in some respects-pretty captivating cinematography and engrossing plot development. but beyond that it's just annoying... it doesn't seem so different than dragon's lair from back in the day. what's the point of 'playing' a video game if you are simply advancing the program to its next line by a successful sequence of buttons mashed?

yeah yeah...that describes all video games at some level. but this 'game' doesn't even grant you the courtesy of looking around, exploring, figuring things out within a wider scheme of options. the camera is locked in, you cannot move but within a small frame until you guess exactly what it is the 'game' is programmed to accept as a valid move and/or you read on the screen what control sequences are required to advance. BORING

Up next: Kentucky

geesh...my bracket is toast

http://www.lawrence.com/brackets/2007...

so much for all the kenpom-inspired picks vindicating the selection committee... duke, ark, illinois. and one of my final fours gone already. but the only reason i'm bummin is seeing xavier lose after all that.
