Okay, We'll Just Stand Here While You Kill Us.

Thanks to "The Clonus Horror" episode I laughed through the previews of "The Island" because it looked like such a rip off. Of course it was a rip off, and the lawsuit was apparently settled for seven figures.

The Darkness... It's Creeping In.

My gamertag is rob3rto - be sure you let me know who you are when you add me. I generally play with by brothers who are scattered across the world (cheaper than long distance), and a group of gamers I hooked up with at www.geezergamers.com. That was especially handy when the Halo 3 demo came out and I didn't have to find anyone younger than 26 to jaw at me.

The difference between Gold in Silver is that Silver is free, and Gold costs money. But you can't play online against other people without Gold: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/featur...

Spending money is actually way too easy. If you find something you want to buy just put in your cart and try to check out. It will give you a link to register your CC information. I think you have to do $10 at a time, but such is life. From then on if you want to buy something it will just refill your balance to what you need to make the purchase.

I seriously don't think the profile level means much except for finding like minded players. I'm recreation, I have several underground and pro friends. We're all about the same level skill wise.

Have fun, let's frag soon...

This is just going to make you mad at me

"...you've got to immerse yourself in the air sex world." That statement more than any other part of the story boggles my mind. It must be quite a world.

U.S. soccer team's World Cup embarrassment

Some of our players do play abroad, albeit not in top tier teams. Here's an interesting article entitled "Why America Lacks World-Class Soccer Players":

It seems to hit on a lot of the points in this discussion.

U.S. soccer team's World Cup embarrassment

"I wonder if that has anything to do with the size of the country, the fact that there are 50 states, or maybe that more people go to college here (is this true?) than in other countries so those college ties are stronger than national ties."

That's a good question. Neither China nor Russia made it this year, and they're huge countries. I wonder if they have a lack of support/interest due to regionally diverse populations and geography?

You've got to admit, though, there were A LOT of US fans at those games, and there were A LOT of people paying attention here in the states. I think the sports media's comments are due largely to the fact that soccer fans are not their target audience, although we are probably a sizeable audience nevertheless. I did see a few ESPN spots pre-World Cup showing how the fuss of the Super Bowl is miniscule compared to international soccer games, apparently in a bid to "educate". Nice try, but a large portion of the population just won't get into it 1) because of their tainted perception and; 2) there aren't enough time-outs.

Maybe if they made a goal worth 7 points? That would have made the Brazil - Japan game 28-7 ;^]

Job Satisfaction

Fletch: Where do you live? I don't know of any game dev companies within 200 miles...

I can see how the list beats out money. Number 5 might be better stated as "Is the really what I want to do for the rest of my life?". It's probably not as much a factor until you've been in the workforce a few years.
