When I was in Mexico they had these big long commecials before the movies... but they were commercials FOR MEXICO. Like, "Look at all the wonderful, colorful, delicious fruits and vegetables we grow here! Support Mexico!" Or, "Look at all the gorgeous places there are to visit in Mexico! Go visit a different part of Mexico! Be a tourist in your own land!" It was strange.
Maybe I'm just ignorant as to how these things work... but couldn't her organs be donated? She would "live on" in other people, giving them the gift of life that she herself cannot enjoy, and she'd have something of a noble death.
Something in me says that might offend someone, and if it does... my apologies. No offense was intended.
As far as new pizza places in town go, I've been extremely pleased with Wheat State Pizza. Their wheat crust pizza is to die for! It's a "chain" (they own more than one store, in multiple cities-- way to branch out from Baldwin!) but they keep that hometown feel. I'd recommend that over CiCi's any day.
Did the "Parental Advisory:Explicit Content" label get added to the front page after all of this controversy, or was it there to begin with?
I also dislike when being conservative about anything automatically labels you Republican, Bush loving, anti-Middle East, etc. Lawrence is a liberal place, I'll grant that- but couldn't we be "liberal" enough to allow everyone the "freedom" to their own opinions, even if they happen to be *gasp* Republican, conservative, or of more traditional morals? Something in there stinks of hypocrisy to me, but then again, I'm very tired and have been ill this week, so maybe it's just my head cold talking.
I understand the need to appease the masses by converting to new technology, but even I can't bring myself to throw out my VHS tapes. It seems redundant and wasteful to purchase the same films on DVD when the tapes are still perfectly good. I love renting videos at Dillons because they have all sorts of older 80's and 90's films on VHS that are far down the list of movies to convert to DVD. Then again, I adamantly stated that cassette tapes were superior to CD's back when those were changing over, despite all the evidence to the contrary, and eventually I realized I was being silly. I just know my kids will laugh at me one day for being familiar with such ancient things as VCR's and cassette players, just as my generation smiles at the talk of 8-tracks and record players.
Celebrity Resemblance
Well, having both Judy Garland and Liza Minelli makes sense, since Liza IS Judy's daughter... so just think of it that way. :)

The danger of the radio
I currently have the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" stuck in my head. That's what I get for listening to the radio as I get ready in the morning...
"Once upon a time I was falling in love... now I'm only falling apart..."

Blogging the Super Bowl
Hooray! Somebody else recognizes the new Vin Disel Disney movie as a Kindergarten Cop rip-off!
Now, if only people would admit that Elmo is just a cheap, red rip-off of Grover...
