'Corporate FM' filmmaker, who documented the fall of The Lazer, seeks distribution funding

You need to see the movie to understand why there is a problem, why it matters, and who got rich off the whole deal. It is a story about commmunity, music, bands, and policy...and it is compelling. I saw it in KC in April and have thought about it every day since.

Your dinner looks so good. Only you could bring that machine to life so quickly and with such ease!

Cake eggs: Easy Easter treats

Love this! Sorry we had to miss it. Even our "big kids" would have loved it.

Salted Caramel Mocha Cupcake. Starbucks, eat your heart out.

This sounds divine. If I made this at home I might have to lock myself in my house and eat all of them.

I'm with you in that I have resisted the urge (the urge has actually never been there) to enter a Starbucks in Lawrence out of loyalty to all of the local business owners.

Summer is for boats. Zucchini boats, that is.

They were a big hit with the non-mean dairy eaters!

T-Minus One Week to Chick-a-Dees

We signed up for the newsletters from this woman's blog and it is very helpful. I totally suggest this. The newsletters depict such a love for backyard hens.

Our chickens have been so much fun! Ultra Grandma is the favorite. She's very tame and beautiful. Phoebe is crazy and the other hens hate her, but she lays pretty pale green eggs. Anyway, it will be an adventure! It's hard to mess things up as long as you keep them warm, fed and watered.

Organic Insanity

It can drive you insane trying to figure out the right thing to do! I drove myself crazy for the first three years of my kiddo's life avoiding (get this) GMO's, dairy, and tried for all organic stuff bringing in special snacks to his daycare. Then I gave up from exhaustion and just let him have school lunch. At home we really try to avoid processed foods and grow some of our food. Some things we only get the organic version of and others no so much. Strawberries and peaches we ONLY organic or at least pesticide free if we can find that locally. Some things are harder to stomach eating if you don't know the grower or the source. And some nights a frozen pizza is just about all we can figure out to do because we are too exhaused to do anything else. Kids of all dietary backgrounds go on to do great things. Just do your best is the best advice. And get chickens!
