3 things to do this week
The Science on Tap series continues with biochemist Dr. Bryan Smith discussing cancer treatment, now and in the future, in a casual setting with fellow curious folk (beer drinking is optional), from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Free State Brewing Company, 636 Massachusetts St.
KU professor Randal Maurice Jelks will discuss Benjamin Elijah Mays, the man Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called his "spiritual and intellectual father," in honor of Black History Month. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Dole Instutute, 1530 Petefish Drive, and is free.
I love using the word geekery in any blog, let alone twice. This event, starting at 9 p.m., is set to be a roundup of video, board and card games with Foxy By Proxy, a local burlesque troupe, thrown in for good Valentine's Day measure. It's $5 for 18-21, $3 for 21+.
