5 things to do this weekend
Thursday geekery: Cheesy horror film 'Bats' @ Natural History Museum
Enjoy the film, about genetically modified bats, for free, followed by a setting straight of the science on the little (most often not) bloodsuckers from a museum researcher. 6:30 p.m. on the KU campus.
Friday theater: Mummenschanz @ the Lied Center
The oddly mesmerizing Swiss mime/performance troupe Mummenschanz is celebrating 40 years with a world tour, and it comes to the Lied Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday; $12-$28.
Friday comedy: Stand-up @ Frank's North Star Tavern
I'll let the Facebook event do the describing here: "Raise a glass (CHEERS!) while watching good-looking people with crippling social anxieties express daringly original and provocative opinions on marriage, politics, and airline food!"
It'll be a collection of Lawrence folks interested in comedy performing, starting at 9 p.m. 21+
Friday local music: Quiet Corral @ the Bottleneck
This Lawrence quintet plays power pop with heart, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $9.
Saturday benefit: Shamrock Shuffle downtown
The annual St. Pat's Day Parade fundraiser and 5K starts its route at the center, 708 Elm St., at 8 a.m. Runners (or walkers) can pre-register at the Ballard Center. A pancake feed will follow.

"The oddly memorizing Swiss mime/performance troupe Mummenschanz" should be "oddly mesmerizing", NOT "memorizing"!!

Pretty sure I saw those mimes downtown last night and was equally mezmerized and creeped out. So... pretty sure I'll REMEMBER that. Thanks for the FNST Comedy Show shout-out, Alex & Lcom!
