Yeah, don't we all? Cool comic though!

I bet he's listening to Satriani.
mitzibel (Misty Nuckolls) says…
Indeed. These comics are really awesome--keep them coming. Please? (Look at that. You made me be all polite and shit.)
reeveso (John Reeves) says…
Who shares a house with the grumbler? Or is that the grumbler daydreaming about his voyeur?
thirtyeight (Dave Loewenstein) says…
reeveso - the last panel is based on a memory from about fifteen
years ago, when my girlfriend at the time and I lived next door to
Joe, and heard him singing along to an old Beatles record.
leslie (Leslie vonHolten) says…
Did he have Wilbur the cat then? Wilbur would escape, and for blocks you could hear Joe searching, in droll Joe style: "Wiiiillllllbuuurrrrr. Wiiillllbuuuuurrrr."
thirtyeight (Dave Loewenstein) says…
leslie- oh yeah, but it was more like "Wuurrrrrbuurrrrrrrr..."

i know the main character is real. but is the strip ? or is it just the author's idea of what the grubler might be doing? ive never seen him begging. just do the man justice. i wonder if he knows he has a comic strip. sounds like cash money in his pocket. and mine. Law school continues to pay off...
godjilla (Jill Ensley) says…
grubler?
I'm just going to trail you and correct your spelling mistakes from now on. Just think of me as your personal spell-check.
godjilla (Jill Ensley) says…
Dave, I love your work, style, composition, feeling....but I was thinking, ever since you've started posting these comic pieces there's been something missing. I think they need to be longer, maybe one more panel? The flow is weird, choppy, takes awhile to read what's really going on/being said.
I'm trying this new thing where I try and be honest with fellow artists. I hope it doesn't come off as condescending.

One thought--I never see Bicycle Joe riding the same bike twice. I always wonder where he and Dennis get all the different bikes.
thirtyeight (Dave Loewenstein) says…
jill- thanks for the comment (I do appreciate honest feedback). I'm still trying to figure out how to do these. Stay tuned, I think the narratives in newer ones are a little stronger.
derald (anonymous) says…
"begging" ? all we see is a man and a girl and us reacting to a man holding a cup of coffee
godjilla (Jill Ensley) says…
I do love your shading/tones and line work. Can't wait to see the next one. :)
