Liza MacKinnon of MacKomics Studio presents a mixed body of work for the December 26th, 2014 Final Friday show at Ten Thousand Villages at 835 Massachusetts Street. This collection includes handmade books, copperplate etchings, image transfer and collage mixed-media pieces as well new wood canvas paintings. "I like to paint lowbrow portraits. Grumpy people and fat cats are primarily what catch my eye, but other inspirations sneak their way into my paintings as well. Above all, I'm drawn to the absurd in life, and I think that my work speaks to that."

MINSKY’S PIZZA (934 Massachusetts St.)

SeedCo STUDIOS (720 E 9th St.)

Seedco Studios, in association with the Fresh Produce Art Collective presents SQUARED, an exhibition of recent works by residents of Seedco and featured guest artists. Equality, the new normal, averages, volume, density; inside and outide the box, hidden and multiplied, the four winds, square pegs, all share the same symmetry. In a world where the complexities of multiverses and interwebs overload the sensory threshholds, the shape of the square offers a rare slice of simplicity. The show opens this Final Friday December 26.

Seedco Studios will also be hosting selected artist's studios open to the public. As well as the main gallery, the space is a combines work spaces with music rehearsal spaces to act an organically assembled incubator for creative arts. Seedco is located at 720 Delaware St. in the Warehouse Arts District in East Lawrence.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SEEDCO STUDIOS Located within the Warehouse Arts District at 720 E 9th Street #2 in Lawrence, KS, this space is ideal for making, showing and engaging in all aspects of art. With 19 artist studios, a music recording operation and collaborative space/gallery, the potential for creating at all scales is practically limitless. SeedCo is envisioned as a creative factory/laboratory with each of the resident artists bringing their singular artistic identity and prowess to expand and delve deeper into conception and production. At the heart of this project is a conscious intent to transform the space into a fluent medium all its own, specifically designed to transcend temporal and spatial values and condense them to create a heightened sensory experience. A multi-disciplinary approach emphasizing cooperation, collaboration, and community involvement and encompassing elements from fine art, sculpture, graphic design and production, music and recording, fashion, construction, digital media, and street art, the scope of this endeavor is far-reaching, but the flavor is distinctly home-grown. With its placement in the center of historic redevelopment, SeedCo Studios has the chance to act as a catalyst for creative growth, not only in Lawrence proper, but radiating outward into the surrounding regional area and beyond.
