Okay, That's It.
I had this posted in the comments section to my previous blog, but you know what, those half-wits at Fox News have really out-done themselves this time.DISregarding the fact that I'm a huge fan of Vonnegut AND quite liberal, this is still rather putrid. Using a man's death to concoct some sad sack tale of just another whiny, too-smart-for-his-own-good liberal finally dying is above and beyond anything I actually expected from Fox News. In case there was ANY doubt about their one-sided motives, there sure as hell shouldn't be now."Failed at suicide". Who says that?! Who says that now? Why even bring that up? THE MAN IS DEAD. "Sacred cow"?! "rich and irrelevant"?! What ignorant opportunism! They couldn't let one moment pass without coloring with their big uber-conservative crayon. Hacking away at a dead giant's legs in some ill-conceived attempt to tarnish a legacy and sway public opinion only makes you look like even bigger fools and harpies. And just don't, seriously don't, read the comments on the YouTube page. I think we all know how awful some of those are by now.

Unfortunately those who are swayed by the media machine will not see a thing wrong with this. However those we truly have to fear, the stupid, don't watch the news anyway. This is sad on so many levels.

You don't mind if I don't watch this vid, do you?
Kurt is in heaven now (shut up, i couldn't resist), and it is indeed now up to the talking heads (news readers - I like that term) and you tube commentors to clarify his world view. He's pissing his pants to what's pissing you off. Well, no, probably not, because I unfairly attribute my own shallow meanspiritedness to him, but you know what I mean. If I was smart, I'd apply the proper Bokononistic terminology, but since I'm not, I only leave you with this: If more people "got" Vonnegut, the world would be better, but they didn't. So now, the value of your anger toward those who detract is a mere fart in the scheme of things (and an aknowledgement that the fuckheads run the show). But you have a unique opportunity to celebrate the Vonnegut and his work and his influence - an opportunity that goes beyond raising glasses (which is always in order). So take it. What I'm saying is get your ass to work. That's what I'm trying to do.

OHHHH, well...that actually explains a lot. Now I just feel bad for them and their syphilitic headmeats. Geez, I wonder what their cosmetics budget is?

And no, I don't mind if you don't watch it. It's just my flash-in-the-pan anger rising up again. Back to work....

We must simply ignore such crap from "Fakes" News...KV was a genius, and with a scalpel for a pen...My son at 17, is now starting to read Kurt's work, and will be even more "endoctrinated" to the liberal, mid-western view of myself and his mom, very much honed by KV parables. Now my son will learn the ways of the world, from Dresden to Indianapolis.
Writers like KV scare the rich, mighty and stupid so badly that they run and hide, or try to smear the "offender".
He really is "unstuck in time" now, and we are sadder, and a little less enlightened for it.

That, was wonderfully put and put a smile on my face.

If it even puts a glimmer in even one FOX viewers mind, and causes them to browse one of his books, maybe at least the mention of him was good.
I have read quite a few of his books over the last year, and they are a good read, even if you don't dig deep. But, the rabbit hole goes far if you choose to look that way.
Maybe scrubbing with a loofa gets rid of syphilis...
