Weekend Time Wasters: Chick Habit Edition

Is it so wrong of me to get that Christmas carol, "It's the most wonderful time of the year" stuck in my head on days like this? It could not be more perfect right now. The art car parade is going on today. There's an all day event at the Replay (by the way, did you read that Esquire finally proves us all right by voting it as one of the best bars in the nation? For real, it was a factor in my moving to Lawrence.) and Jackpot, featuring The Appleseed Cast and it's sister Old Canes, Konsept, Esoteric, and Only Children; some of the best bands you can see around town (as if you needed more pushing, it's the last Esoteric show for a while.). It's freaking 72&&char114&&' degrees and sunny outside. And graduation is tomorrow, which means my favorite thing: The kids are leaving. For a sweet, passion filled 8 or 9 weeks, I can go over to my girlfriend's house (she lives on Ohio) without going insane, and I can drink in public on Fridays with out having to hear about how some girl's "boyfriend was making out with that bitch, so I started making out with everyone I could find, as long as he could see me.", or my favorite from last night, "Hey, did you get that chick's digits?" Smooth, daddy-o. Way to be Fonzie about it.Anyway, we get our town back from weather, boredom, and kids with too much time and money. For a while at least. Let's enjoy it while we can. But, when you're done with that, feel free to enjoy my clips of the week.

Batman is a Femibooster

I found this when I was looking for stuff on the state of Feminism posting a while back. Could you imagine seeing a commercial like this these days? I frankly can't.

Bonobo vs. Pac-Man

I want to hang out with a Bonobo really badly. I guess that they are self-aware? And they are genetically even closer to humans than Chimps? Or are they the same level of similarity, just different? I want to know more. Soory, I'm doing every thing I can to not make a joke about Donkey Kong. It's hard.

The Making of Dr. Who

One of my favorite pieces of music is the Dr. Who theme music from the old series. I wish they hadn't updated it. Here's a BBC special about the making of it. By the way, I've been catching up on the new ones through a site called [TV Links][1]. If you value your time, DO NOT GO THERE. It's basically a directory of as many TV Shows, Movies, Cartoons, Animes, Music Videos, and Sports that they can find. They organize it into streaming videos, and put a series of links up. You can save it, but it's free to use, there's no member log in or personal information given up, and there's no ads. If it was a higher resolution, I would buy a sling catcher for it. Also, it works on the Wii. I spend my time at the office listening to Arrested Development episodes, and then catch up on Dr. Who and the Office and Penn & Teller's Bullshit! when the girlfriend isn't free. It is fucking dangerous, because it shows us what television could be: fun.

Millimeter Food Fight

Awesome animation by a French film student.

Ratatouille is Coming

One thing: I love Pixar movies. They are the standard bearer in animation. Two Things: I love Brad Bird. He can show more in a scene than most whole movies. Three Things: I love, love, love Patton Oswalt. His new CD is brilliance captured. I can't wait.

Gopher Broke

See what I mean? This is just an exercise on texturing and it's better than Happily Never After. I think this was a bonus material piece on the Cars DVD?

Kiwi

You know, I think I'm just going to blow out a couple of the animation pieces I have laying around. This is another student film that started making the rounds a few years ago. It's simple, but I just love it.

8848

Another student film, about a young man man remembering his father. I love the style of this, everything practically bleeds light.

The Best Piece Of Animation Ever Put Together In The History Of Mankind
