FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWe don't want to brag, but it's been a good year for lawrence.com. Awards keep rolling in. It's as though we can't make them stop. Ad revenues are at historic highs. And our readers are plentiful, having gone forth and multiplied, converged and then multiplied again. And now we'd like to give something back.![][1] lawrence.com is therefore pleased to announce that we are making available $75 -- that's 3/4 of $100 -- payable in cash to Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy, to be divided in any way they see fit, for a reunion set by Uncle Tupelo at this year's [Wakarusa Music Festival][2].We know that's a lot of money. But we think, dear readers, that you're worth it.As a gesture of good faith and good will (traits we like to think are at the heart of the lawrence.com experience) we'd even be willing to put up over half the total amount, $40, before the set. The remaining $35 will be presented after the set.Messrs Tweedy and/or Farrar, and/or their authorized agents, are encouraged to contact homies [at] lawrence [dot] com._This offer not available in all states, nor for all music festivals. Carefully review prospectus details before accepting._ [1]: http://media.lawrence.com/img/special/seventyfivedollars.jpg [2]: http://www.lawrence.com/events/2005/jun/17/8509/

That's funny. It was even funnier when Lorne Michaels offered the Beatles $3,000 to reunite on SNL 25 years ago.
It would be nice to see Uncle Tupelo...

(Actually, hilary, it was nearly 30 years ago.)
(And note to readers: we have no idea what hilary is talking about. Plus: we're prepared, pending negotiations, to offer both Tweedy and Farrar a rare "John Brown" lawrence.com t-shirt. Lorne Michaels has nothing on us.)

I say we pay Max Johnson (who will also be there w/ the Gourds) 75 bucks to play and save us from the pissy slap fight that Farrar and Tweedy would subject us to.

Maybe Tweedy can teach Farrar how to not write the same song over and over again...

WHile he's at it, maybe he can give him lessons on becoming a self absorbed, media-whoring jackass, too.

While he's at it, maybe Tweedles will realize that he looks like deformed troll doll and invite Jay Bennett back into the band to become the good looking frontman. Or Ryan Adams.

Wilco sucks. Son Volt sucks. Uncle Tupelo was awesome. $75.

huh. I find Jeff Tweedy less annoying than Jay Ferrar. And both are infinitely less annoying than Jay Bennett. But I may be biased. I'd not have been as nice had Bennett started a fight with me while I had a migraine. Tweedy showed restriaint by not hurling *on* Bennett.
I do agree though, Uncle Tupelo was awesome, and still is one of my favorite bands ever. *plays Steal the Crumbs again*

Uncle Tupelo was agreat band. Consequently, Wilco is a great band and so is Son Volt. Both Jay and Jeff are doing what they love and both are not making music simply for the glory of it. They are what all artist should strive to become. I for one would love to see Jeff and Jay get back together to play a little "Moonshiner" and "Gun" just for one night. I'll throw in $25 to make it an even $100. Oh and by the way, murderama you are an idiot that has no clue what you are talking about so shut your trap!

I agree with billypilgrim - I like both bands. Leave the infighting to the two principals and let's just be music fans.

Wow, am I an idiot because I share the popular opinion that Jeff Tweedy is an uptight asshole? Or are YOU an idiot for taking my sarcasm serious to the point of name calling? I guess it figures that pompous, shit-talking rock icons have pompous, shit-talking fans...

Are you freaking kidding me MURDERAMA ? You are some bully two-bit columnist loser that thinks you are going to talk trash on Jeff Tweedy. Oh yes, go on with snooty sarcasm. Your trying to make Jeff Tweedy look like freaking BONO. Thats ridiculous. He has done nothing but make terrific music. He is not out there trying to sell his agenda or make tons of money, he just creates good records. You're just one of those idiots that parrots the lastest critic that calls them "self absorbed, media-whoring jackasses". Let me guess you got that from Blender or Rolling Stone, you sanctimonius bastard. Please lets just enjoy Tweedy and Farrar for what they are great artists that are trying to further there craft. Lets all enjoy the time we have with them this weekend. I bet MURDERAMA won't even be there.

Ha hah hah ha ha! Wow! Hooked me another one, by god! WHEEEEE! You know, for a Vonnegut fan, you sure have a thin skin when it comes to sarcasm... Or is Jeff like your bestest friend or something?
My tastes run so far off the radar that Wilco doesn't even register as a blip. Same goes for RS and this Blender thing, whatever it might be...
And by the way, you're right, I WON'T be there this weekend--- I'm allergic to hippies. Nyah nyah nyaaaaaahhhhhh....
