Stiff Middle Fingers, Lazy, Merlin and Theo’s Mystic Robot Orchestra play at the Love Garden on Friday
Update: Lazy will no longer be playing the event.
Three local bands with new releases—Merlin, Lazy, and Stiff Middle Fingers—will be playing alongside a fourth local band, Theo’s Mystic Robot Orchestra, this Friday at an appropriate location for celebrating new music, Love Garden.
Stiff Middle Fingers are releasing "Enemies with Benefits EP." Cameron Hawk, who plays guitar for Stiff Middle Fingers, tells me their songs are short and angry and the band is heavily influenced by The Descendents and Black Flag. Plus, the band's music fulfills a teenage dream of his. “I’ve always wanted to be in a punk band since I was in high school,” he said.
Theo’s Mystic Robot Orchestra is the project of Drew Smith, a 13-year-old music blogger in town. Read Nick Spacek's interview with him here.
Lazy is made up of a variety of musicians with Lawrence and Kansas City music scene ties—read their history here—and will be releasing a new 7”. Here is a great interview with them from earlier this year.
Merlin, in celebration of "Night Terror EP," will be playing their first show. I've been assured they have plenty of free music and merchandise to give away.
The show starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, and as always, feel free to shop around Love Garden for your record collection while listening to music.
