Gentleman Jesse brings his power-pop to the Jackpot
True to his name, Gentleman Jesse strikes a classic and genteel note with his image, sound, and persona. Backed by a band called “his Men” Jesse Smith is a straight-shooting classic rock troubadour that mines that mines 70s power-pop but inflects his music with a punk attitude. The result may be too beholden to Gentleman Jesse's predecessors and the man can come across as a bit of anachronism, but harmed with his tight melodies, prime riffs, and sincere rocking, Gentleman Jesse puts on a good show.
