Over time I'll stumble upon interesting, but not necessarily important stuff that I see and save the link thinking that some day I'll get around to sharing it with friends. However, more often that not, these things just pile up in my del.icio.us page or GoogleReader and I forget about them. I'm clearing out the linkage a bit today, so while I'm at it, these are some things I think are worth seeing. Like Guitar Hero? If so, feast your eyes on The Guitar Zeros This is just awesome. A couple guys modified their GuitarHero controllers (which include a few simple buttons built into small guitar-shaped plastic) so that they could use them to actually play music, which is cool enough. But then they realized they could make some cool sounds and decided to start a band. And what makes it all cooler is that as a band they are pretty damn good. Take a look. Humans = badass Humans are badass animals when used to their potential. This is a great example of what humans are capable of. At least three blind people have learned to 'see' using echolocation, which is involves making a sound and listening to how the sound waves bounce of objects in their environment. It is similar to how bats and dolphins navigate. This short video follows two of the individuals known to be able to do this. It's jaw-droppingly awesome. I love these photographs. The artist, [Lori Nix][1], makes these miniature scenes and photographs them. And the results are really interesting. She has several themes, including a decaying city, insects and one that involves accident scenes in Kansas. Here are a few I especially like: ![][2] ![][3] ![][4]How Clinton could lose In my [Quick and Linky Case for Obama][5] post, I included a video Lawrence Lessig made explaining his reasoning for supporting Obama. In this one he questions whether or not Clinton can win. He says no. And, as of today, I agree with his argument. Watch it and see if you do, as well. Dragonfly covered in dewIt is what it is. [Awesome][6].![][7]. . [ Use the drums from RockBand on GarageBand][8].I don't have a Mac, which means I also don't have GarageBand, but if I did and also happened to own the video game Rock Band, I would rig this up. Okay, that's enough for now. If yall like this kinda thing maybe I'll do more of these mix-bag posts in the future. And if there's some random link or video you've been hanging onto in order to share, drop it in the comments. I can't help but wonder that, once you've spent the money on all of the software and the video game stuff, couldn't you just buy a cheap kit and some mics and actually record real drums?
I know -- I'm a buzzkill.

OJ, exactly why I won't be doing this. I don't have an xbox, mac, rockband or garageband, so I would never bother w/ that. But i think there has to be some folks that happen to have all these things already and just don't realize this is possible.
As for recording real drums, that's not really the point. Being able to sync it up w/ garage band means you'd then have a set of synth drums, so you'd be able to play a infinite number of sounds/styles of drums/percussion.

Yeah. You could probably buy a Roland electronic kit or something, have better sound and spend only marginally more. But I'm straying from the point, I know. From a DIY geek perspective, that's still pretty cool.

Very awesome miniature scenes. Followed the link, and "The City" images remind me of Logan's Run, which is also awesome.

Lori Nix rocks, and the Spencer is the only museum anywhere that has the complete set of "Accidentally Kansas" prints. We currently have several of these on view in the renovated 20/21 Gallery, as part of a "Conversation" about "Place: Kansas." Check it out if you can.
