One Murder Down
And so...Having grown rich and fat off the spoils of local sports fans (I live to spite you. I live to exploit you. Thanks for supporting my vindictive attitude in the form of tip jar money!) I now have enough money to begin principal photography on this year's surefire mega-hit, IT STARTS WITH MURDER (tagline: "They came to get away from it all... PERMANENTLY!).Translation: DAY ONE of shooting is now in the can, and I give you this (VERY) rough edit of a key DEATH SCENE from the movie (the word MURDER ain't in the title for nothing, kids): Obviously, music is subject to change, some edits need fine tuning, etcetera etcetera etcetera. You may ask me: "Hey, didn't you already post a clip from this movie? In the form of a credit sequence some months back?" And I might answer: "Yes, but based on the SHEER AWESOME AWESOMENESS of this new footage, I might have to go back and re-shoot said credits sequence in lieu of something more VISUALLY STUNNING!"Give it a gander and let me know what you think.COMING SOON: I give you Kelly Nightengale as the intrepid MISS MANDRAKE![
][1]Special thanks to Kevin C. for his methodical portrayal of young, beautiful, and doomed DOUG THE BUG![
][2]Tomorrow we're shooting a rice cake commercial/chase sequence, and this weekend we're off to the junkyard. I'll be back with a full report soon after-- isn't the suspense just KILLING you? smoking really is bad for you. impressive ash, though.

As long as you're planning to work a pregnant high school chick into this movie and put some Kinks songs on the soundtrack, you can count me right the fuck in.

Wow...effective, assuming revolting is what you're going for. The knife details truly creep me out-surely in part because a dear friend of mine was stabbed to death.

Tm:I thought you said "nice ASS," and was secretly-almost-publicly flattered.Guttersnipe:The critical blurb on Juno's poster read: "A feel good movie that will remind you why you fell in love with movies in the first place!" If that was enough to keep you out of the theater, then this movie is for you.Smerky:Revolting, yes-- in a campy, "Blood Feast" sort of way. You may not be able to tell just yet, but the movie is a comedy, of sorts. And violence SHOULD be creepy and scary-- It's a lie to treat it any other way, I think. I tire of the casual depictions of death in most movies these days-- it devalues the shock of such a brutal act.

Jeebus tits, this is going to be fun. I've been shopping for swim caps on EBay . . .

Agreed that glamorized/glossed over/etc violence rings false, but I'm not going out of my way to look at things like ogrish.com or violence that otherwise has questionable redeeming value. The line between the two is obviously relative, and not always clear to me personally. But as a longtime reader of your blog, I'm guessing I won't find your final film to be simply a gratuitous portrayal. This clip by itself just has a particularly visceral effect on me.

Excellent lighting, my friend. And good score getting John Travolta's Battlefield Earth hand to play the brutal murderer.

Excellent job once again, Mr. Manilow."Revolting, yes-- in a campy, "Blood Feast" sort of way. You may not be able to tell just yet, but the movie is a comedy, of sorts."Yep. Definitely getting the camp/creep vibe. I eagerly await the next installment.

rob-owing to the march madness-induced site traffic, we've been experiencing some anomalies on the site. we intended to just remove nomhire's comment (bc it was essentially spam) and dot's was collateral damage for a sec there. pardon that, it should be back now~phil

Editeur is a b52 fan.

Oops. Crosspost.I meant that in the nicest way.

DOTDOT needs a part in the movie. He is an awesome musician AND can act too! Plus, he's appropriately warped. I mean that in the nicest possible way....LOL.

I agree. DOTDOT should play the part of Fred Schneider.(ducks in fear of projectiles being flung from computer screen).

LL:I blush. And while your complimentary remarks may be true, and - dare I say it - possibly understated, rest assured that this does not necessarily translate to "need." There are other things to consider when sharing creative talent. You got your Karma, you got your JuJu, you got your cultural sensibilities (b52 juice falls under this heading), and you got your proclivity for dosing the room with smart ass remarks on phenomena that you have developed a deep seated hate for which other people seem to enjoy. In the world of Scary and Curvacia, I will always be a student; meaning I will never "get it" but their articulation of and passion for "the program" is intriguing in a purely fuckhead to fuckhead kind of way. So while reading this blog helps to erode (actually more effectively than I will ever admit in public) some of the long established disdain I have held for all things "camp," I think the level of "need" between Scary, edie, and myself is fairly equal. You know what I mean. And I say that with all peace and love in my heart.

OJ: Good thing you ducked. All: "Apologies" for quotes, parenthesis (I can't help it; they are my vice) and - I mean it - dashed phrases, and also spewly comments. Shit drives me crazy too.

"I agree. DOTDOT should play the part of Fred Schneider."i think dotdot should play WITH part of fred schneider.
